Cancer Reporter: Blogging About Cancer

Cancer Reporter is a blog about cancer news, prevention and research.

I'm the author of a new book on preventive health and cancer, Reduce Your Cancer Risk, co-authored with Michael Stefanek of the American Cancer Society. The book describes how to reduce cancer risk in 12 easy-to-follow steps - whether you have increased risk for cancer, such as a family history of the disease, or are just concerned about your health and want to know about lifestyle choices that can definitively impact your chance for being diagnosed with the disease John Wayne called the "Big C."

As a medical writer, I've reported about cancer for 20 years. I'm also a cancer survivor--I've been diagnosed with basal cell skin cancer--and I lost both my parents to cancer. My father George died of lung cancer and my mother Anne lost her battle with breast cancer in 1994.

I'll be blogging about cancer treatments in the news, preventive health and cancer, and cancer and genetics. I'll also be telling my personal story--the story of how my experience of cancer has changed my life and my perspective, even my approach to spirituality.

I hope this blog will be a source of information, hope and support for those who have been touched by cancer.
